Full Te Ara, The Path, Documentary Now Showing

Te Ara, the Path, is a four-part documentary which started playing on Stuff this week, pairing one of New Zealand’s best climbers with one of the country’s newest mountaineers.   The four, ten-minute videos tell the amazing story of Holly Beckham’s climb from years of drug addiction to the slopes of the maunga of Aotearoa, thanks to the teaching, support and guidance of Lydia Bradey, a New Zealand climbing icon.

Te Ara skilfully showcases the sport we are passionate about, highlights our stunning mountains, the New Zealand Alpine Club’s alpine huts and dramatically shows the opportunities mountaineering offers to explore these treasures. But at a deeper level, thanks to the outstanding contributions of both Holly and Lydia, Te Ara speaks about the opportunities mountaineering offers to explore within ourselves, and to use what we learn to achieve new heights.

In the final Episode Four, which is streaming now on Stuff at https://www.stuff.co.nz/pou-tiaki/132429035/te-ara--the-path-mount-everest-is-next-im-coming-for-you--tititea-conquered-by-kiwi-wahine we see Holly and Lydia summit Tititea/Aspiring and talk about their struggles and hopes for the future.

The NZAC Tūpiki Trust would love to hear your feedback on Te Ara,– and remember, applications are open for our September funding round.  So if you have a project like Te Ara, which meets the Trust’s objectives to support climbing and our climbing areas in Aotearoa, we’d love you to complete an application at www.tupikitrust.org.nz.

Enjoy.
